Announcing the Winners of
“So, you want to be in picture . . .in my next book?”

A while ago, I posted a couple of offers for readers to submit their names and a brief description of themselves for an opportunity to become characters in Book 4 of my Inherited Treasures series, Gangsters & Reels, which takes place in the early 1930s.
Thanks so much for your enthusiastic response! I am excited to reveal that the following people have been chosen. The following is a brief look at who they are, and the characters they will become.
I’m creating a new character for Rob (Gino) from California, a real-life long-time labor organizer, who will be called Mike Scanlon. Mike is a friend of one of the rumrunners for the speakeasies who ends up over at the movie studio trying to be a shop boss.
A second new character is being created for Terry Lynn, from Arizona, who has had a real-life career in finance and fashion. She is cast as Nettie Ashworth, advisor and confidante to Mildred Witherspoon, who is of course the long-time benefactor of Hazel and her family.
Jeanne, from Pennsylvania, who has a long career as a singer and composer, is cast as Ella Moran, a would-be movie actress at REP Studios. She’s also a friend of Malcolm’s new love, Eileen, whose latest claim to fame was as an underage singer and hoofer at a speakeasy.
Elizabeth, from Massachusetts, an avid reader who works in retail but loves movies, theater, and her rescue cat, is cast as Betty Twigby, a comedic actress with a long resume who has some special skills.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to my request! It has been so exciting getting to interact personally with each of you, and I hope you’ll enjoy seeing your characters come to life in print.
