A few weeks ago, I announced a contest for readers to become a character in my fourth novel, Gangsters & Reels, which will be published in the summer of 2025. It takes place in 1930 during prohibition and is set in speakeasies and movie studios. It comes on the heels of the companion novel, Hoofers & Hooch, the ‘hoofers’ being dancers and ‘hooch’, as you might guess, being illegal alcohol. The characters from Becoming Hazel and Saints & Deceivers are still around, but there’s a new generation and they’re suddenly involved with people Hazel and Charlie aren’t going to be so happy about.
If you’d like to enter the contest to be a character in Gangsters & Reels, all you need to do is submit a brief physical description of yourself, along with something that sets you apart. That could be a skill, a physical attribute, or perhaps an emotional trait. I’ll do the rest. I’m working on a final draft now, and the contest ends October 1, 2024.
To submit an entry, respond to my website at DorrieParsonsAuthor.com with the notation CONTEST. It’s that easy! Be sure to include your true name so that you may be acknowledged in the Author Notes at the end of the book. You’ll be given a different name in the novel.
